Customs Regulations in Sweden

Sweden and the UK are the members of the EU (customs union), it means that no customs duties must be paid among these countries. That’s why while crossing the borders of Sweden your personal goods do not need to be presented to Swedish Customs.

Nevertheless, there are special regulations in place for such goods as animals, foodstuffs, medicines and arms, concerning environmental protection and public health and security.

Documents for pets: a pet passport or veterinary certificate E9.45, E9.93; identity marking; rabies vaccination, including the blood test result showing an approved level of rabies antibodies; deworming against tapeworm (Echinococcus); customs declaration.

Dangerous goods import
It is prohibited to bring dangerous items to Sweden without a permit from the Swedish Police. Such articles as denotes, switchblade knives and stilettos, knuckle-dusters, truncheons, karate sticks, blackjacks, ripping and riveted gloves, maces etc. are considered as dangerous.

You may bring alcohol into Sweden tax-free when traveling from the UK under the following circumstances: the alcohol is intended for personal use (i.e. for yourself or for your family); you are personally transporting the goods into Sweden; and you are at least 20 years of age.

Besides, there is no restriction to the amount of alcohol you may bring in. But there is the only demand - it must be for your personal use or for your family’s use. You may also bring in alcohol for a celebration where you will be serving alcohol. However, you may not receive payment for the alcohol, even if the payment only covers your cost for purchase.

You may bring tobacco into Sweden tax-free if it is for personal use, and you are personally transporting the products into Sweden. In addition, you must be at least 18 years of age to be bring tobacco into Sweden.
