Customs Regulations in Brazil

A lot of documentation is required to enter Brazil. The needed documents are: visa, certificate of UK residence, Brazilian ID card, Brazilian Tax card, copy of passport, power of attorney and many more. Moreover, most of these documents also have to be notarised (legalised) prior to the shipments arrival, and even copies of the air ticket.

Shipments of used household and personal effects can be imported within 180 days of shippers arrival. It is important for all that shipments to have the required visa and CPF (Cadastro De Pessoas Fisicas - Brazilian Social Security Number.) All Goods including new items can be imported duty free for the same period as the visa is valid.

It is not allowed to import Motor Vehicles into Brazil.

Household and personal effects may be imported duty and tax-free provided that they have been owned and used for at least 6 months and are not for re-sale. It is important to stamp the entire inventory at the Brazilian Consulate at origin. All items must be listed on this inventory, including pets. That item that is not listed is subject to high duties and taxes.

Immigrants must register with the Brazilian Federal Police within 30 days of arrival.
